Model of the complex in its final configuration

The model shows the station as it became by 1996: the core module, Kvant, Kvant-2, Kristall, Spektr, Priroda and the docking compartment. The asymmetric structure, bristling with antennas and panels, looks little like the smooth lines of fictional stations — and that is precisely what makes it convincing.
The model shows how the station changed: each module docked separately and was moved by a manipulator to a side port of the node compartment, making assembly resemble work with a construction kit.
The model hangs four metres above the hall floor, lit to imitate the terminator.
