An upcoming exhibition on the daily life of Salyut 7 and Mir crews: rations, hygiene, exercise and free time.
Six months on a station means 180 breakfasts, lunches and dinners from tubes and tins. The exhibition will show a complete daily ration, the onboard galley with its food warmer and the famous one-bite bread, designed so that no crumbs would drift through the station.
The hygiene section covers the Salyut 7 shower cabin, used once a week, and the vacuum washstand of Mir. The exercise block presents the harnessed treadmill and the Penguin loading suit.
The display closes with the crews’ personal effects: a guitar, a chess set with magnetic pieces and family photographs that flew in orbit.
