Orlan-MK spacesuit

Suit for extravehicular activity

معروض
The core idea of the Orlan is a rigid torso with a hatch in the back: the cosmonaut enters the suit like a small spacecraft and closes the lid, which carries the life-support backpack. Donning takes five minutes instead of half an hour and needs no assistant. Size is adjusted by lacing the arms and legs, so one suit fits different crew members — the station keeps universal suits rather than individual sets. The MK version is rated for up to twenty excursions, and an onboard computer prompts the operation sequence. On display is a suit with the backpack hatch open, beside a stand with gloves and vacuum-rated tools.
