A concluded exhibition on the first jet decade: from the first turbojets to the MiG-15 and Tu-95.
In ten postwar years aviation went from piston fighters to supersonic flight. The exhibition showed how the VK-1 engine — a development of the licensed Nene — carried the MiG-15 to the largest production run of any jet fighter in the world.
The long-range aviation section described the choice between jet and turboprop layouts that ended in the unique Tu-95. The supersonic MiG-21 closed the route as the outcome of the decade.
The exhibition was accompanied by a lecture series with designers and historians; recordings are available in the museum media library.
