Yastreb spacesuit
Suit for transfer between spacecraft
On display
After the Berkut experience, shell mobility was reworked: the joints received sealed bearings and the life-support pack was moved to the chest and belly so as not to obstruct passage through the 65-centimetre hatch.
The transfer by Yeliseyev and Khrunov lasted about an hour and was unique of its kind: an internal hatch appeared on later Soyuz craft and such manoeuvres were no longer needed. The experience served the development of lunar-programme suits.
On display is the suit on a mannequin with the chest pack and tether.
