Soyuz docking simulator

Manual approach is a skill that cannot be acquired theoretically: in weightlessness habitual reflexes deceive, and an impulse given now takes effect a minute later. The simulator reproduces the same view in the sight, the same lag in the ship's response and the same propellant consumption as a real Soyuz. The unit was used for crew training and has been kept operational. The museum runs demonstration sessions on it: visitors see how unintuitive orbital mechanics are on a first attempt. On display is the simulator with a working console; sessions run on a schedule with an instructor.
