Ilyushin Il-14

Piston-engine airliner

في مخزن المتحف
The Il-14 was designed around a strict requirement: continued take-off after failure of one of the two ASh-82T engines at any point of the run. A new wing and careful refinement made the machine the safety benchmark of its era. The airliner worked everywhere: it carried passengers on local routes, joined polar aviation, served as government transport and flew in twenty countries. The Il-14 landed on ice floes near the North Pole and on Antarctic domes. The reserve machine is an Il-14T in polar orange-blue livery, a veteran of high-latitude expeditions. Restoration to flying condition is under discussion with a volunteer association.
