EVA training rig

Weight-relief rig for practising external work

معروض
Weightlessness cannot be fully reproduced on Earth, but weight can be removed: a system of cables and counterweights holds a suited cosmonaut so that only inertia and shell stiffness must be overcome. This allows grip, handrail translation and tool work to be practised. The second training method is the hydrolab, where the suit is neutrally buoyant in water. The two complement each other: the rig is more accurate in dynamics, the water in freedom of movement. On display is the rig with a mock-up section of a station and handrails; demonstrations are given on tours.
