Antonov An-24

The An-24 was designed for the network of local air routes: a high-wing layout keeps the propellers away from gravel and mud, and two AI-24 turboprops assure take-off from eight hundred metres of unpaved strip. The pressurised cabin took up to fifty passengers. From the early 1960s the An-24 connected hundreds of small towns that had no concrete runways. A whole family grew on its base: the An-26 transport, the An-30 aerial-survey aircraft, an ice reconnaissance version. The Chinese copy, the Xian Y-7, was built into the 2000s. The museum machine ended its career at a Siberian air enterprise with over forty thousand flight hours. The cabin is preserved in its 1970s configuration.
